Turgut A.

He developed an early interest in engineering and management studies. He has a background in the cultures of Canada and Turkey (he carries citizenship in both countries). He traveled to other regions of the globe where he worked and contributed to business structuring and market development in countries like the UK, the USA, Canada, India, South Africa, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Kazakhstan.  His continuously and dynamically developing career gained broad international experience in strategy, management, working with diverse cultures, perspectives, and experiences, and doing business within different regions of the globe (Linkedin). 

 

He led a technology transfer project from Canada at a large Telecom company in Turkey and then became the director of the newly established department. In addition, he has contributed to organizations like Honeywell Aerospace Division, Mitel Corporation, Nortel Corporation, and Intellitech Corporation (of USA) in Canada as a regional manager, project manager, system engineer, and telecom HW and SW development and simulation, and design engineer.

 

While serving as the investment director in a company in Turkey, he led a due diligence project on an energy company at MIT in the USA and another project to acquire a wind energy plant in Canada. In addition, he was responsible for solar plant investments in Bulgaria and South Africa.  

 

It was the most exciting time for his career when he served as founder and GM for structuring and building an expert energy plant design and development team (using Intergraph® SmartPlant® SW tools) ground up in Hyderabad, India, building the new organization with 13 engineers, an HR manager, and one finance manager. He was a founding member of an energy startup that worked on the Fischer-Tropsch process, solar thermal technology with high-temperature storage, and environmentally friendly plywood production from municipal waste in Jersey, Channel Island.

 

Later, he served as an executive and GM of Afrasia Corporation, a UK/South Africa-based Energy & Mining Consultancy company, and AMEJamieson, a sister company and a joint venture of Afrasia and Jamison Management Consultancy of Australia,  full-fledged technical services from exploration to mining closures in the mining sector in the region. A few projects he led are (1) corporate and technology due diligence of an energy startup at MIT, USA; (2) project management of acquisition of a wind energy plant in Canada; (3) a project manager working on resolving issues between P&G USA and its supplier in Turkey, traveled to the USA and met and interviewed several third-party service providers in different states for a proper resolution of issues; (4) project coordinator at an EBRD project called "Early Stage Geothermal Support Framework: Pipeline Preparation, Risk Mitigation, Environmental Support, and Project Development Programme; (5) project coordinator at a Ministry of Environment and Urbanization project called PMR Turkey, Roadmap for the Consideration of Establishment and Operation of a Greenhouse-Gas-Emissions Trading System in Turkey.

 

He was an invited speaker at the 16th International Conference on Green Energy and Sustainability in Paris, France (2020) and the International Sustainable Buildings Symposium in Dallas, Texas, USA (2019). His focus areas are diverse and cover many interlinked issues concerning our planet and people.  For example, he has significant interests in sustainability and sustainable development, like energy, i.e., SMRs and renewables,  carbon emission mitigation, climate change, emerging technologies like blockchain, cryptocurrencies, AI, business finance, strategy, and management intertwined with all those.

SOME LATEST WORK

He recently created a financial modeling, valuation, and pitch deck for a coffee chain company to start its business in the USA. Second, he wrote a political and economic report about Turkey for a sizeable logistics organization's international division. Third, he put together a market research report concerning the global airline business and aircraft seat market for a startup. He just accepted a proposal to create bi-monthly reports on Turkey's energy sector and regulations for a European sustainable energy aggregator company with an SW platform. Finally, he has been consulting with one of Turkey's leading food manufacturing companies to invest in a startup designing a patented (in the USA and Europe) compressor by an MIT graduate (Ph.D.).

He is the runner of six international marathons, including NYC.
